Air conditioning

Installing reversible air conditioning

In short: have a heat load assessment carried out, choose an unobstructed location and a solid wall, then leave the installation and connections to a professional.

Installing reversible air conditioning in a house is a complex job. You can do it yourself or hire a professional, and the second option is strongly recommended to ensure longevity and optimal performance. The installation can be entrusted to an air conditioning technician, a refrigeration technician, an electrician, a heating engineer or a plumber.

The minimum requirements before installation

Simply buying a unit in a store is not enough: several factors must be taken into account, including a heat load assessment to identify the right model. The heating provided by reversible air conditioning is generally only a supplementary source. The unit must draw air from an unobstructed space, and the electrical protection must be chosen according to the required current.

How the installation works

The installation starts by deciding where each component will go. The indoor unit must be fixed to a solid wall, with easy access for the connections. A minimum clearance between units is essential, and local regulations must be followed at every step.

Our recommendations

Drilling the walls to recess the units, touching up the paintwork and concealing pipes and cables for a clean finish. An installation carried out by a professional also qualifies for a reduced 10% VAT rate.
